AMA Employees donate over 1,800 hygiene items

On Oct. 8 the AMA Foundation hosted an event to assemble hygiene kits for homeless individuals in Chicago as part of the annual AMA Employee Volunteer Month. AMA Staff donated 1,841 toiletry items and snacks in an enormous outpouring of generosity. During the event, 40 AMA staff members from across the organization came together to assemble over 250 kits and learn more about the amazing work of Kasonja Holley and her organization, “Love in Motion.” Holley, who works with AMA Insurance, spends many of her her lunch breaks on Thursdays distributing food and hygiene kits to homeless individuals. She does this through her organization, “Love in Motion.” She will celebrated the 8th anniversary of this organization this October and it’s efforts to help homeless individuals in Chicago. Having individuals from the AMA, AMA Foundation, and AMA Insurance together giving back their time showcased the power of #OneAMA.

Founded in 2017, each October the AMA Foundation hosts AMA Employee-Volunteer Month to celebrate the countless way AMA Employees Give Back and Pay it Forward to organizations and communities across the Chicagoland area. As part of the month-long celebration of volunteerism, for each hour that is volunteered by AMA employees and their families, a $1 is donated to the AMA Employee-funded Scholarship. This scholarship supports a medical student in an AMA Office Community, and the winner(s) is selected by AMA Employees.
