We need you now more than ever!
Honor an extraordinary physician
Recognize an outstanding physician in your life!
March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, a day to appreciate physicians, their service, and their contributions to society and communities. Now more than ever, we need to recognize and salute physicians who are serving our nation during this most challenging time, especially those working on the frontlines.
Individuals celebrate by sharing notes and choosing to make an honorary donation. When a donation is made in honor or memory of a physician as part of National Doctors’ Day, your AMA Foundation sends the honoree (or family) a personalized note celebrating and informing them of the generosity being conducted in their honor.
“To our Doctors – THANK YOU! During this pandemic, you’re putting your lives on the line for all of us. You are an inspiration. Your passion, years of training, self-sacrifice, and dedication are so needed now. You will save us. You teach us humanity and empathy. Thank you for your sacrifices and all that you do for us and our families.”
John D. Evans, Chairman, AMAF Fellowship Commission for LGBTQ Health
A special shoutout
“On this, National Doctor’s Day, let me send a special shout out of appreciation and gratitude to all our physicians, especially those on the front line in the pandemic battle. Also, thank you to their families for the sacrificing they are making as well. We are in this together. Makes me proud to be a member of the family of medicine.”
Sarah Sanders, PharmD, President, AMA Foundation
Best doc ever!
I just wanted to say that me, my mom and my cousin have the best doctor in the world as far as we are concerned. My cousin credits him for saving her life twice. His name is Dr. Brian Ellis. He cares about his patients and takes real good care of them. I guess I was just hoping you could send him a letter of recognition. He deserves that and more. Thank you

Honoring Nisha Chandra-Strobos, MBBS, MD
“Dr. Chandra-Strobos was one of my first attending physicians in the cardiac ICU, at a time when I was still learning what it meant to be a doctor. She had such amazing mottos that I use to this day. One was, “Cast no lines, catch no fish.” I think of this often and am reminded that I will not succeed if I do not first apply myself.” –
Carl Streed, MD, Boston, Massachusetts
Thank you Dr. Stein
“Dr. Regina Stein is a doctor who treats her patients as true human souls. She saved my life twice: In 2009 from blood clots on my lungs, and then, most recently, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. She planned my surgery with my surgeon in ways that meant I wouldn’t lose a kidney and could keep living a normal life. She’s always there for me with answers to my questions and a hug to ease my fears… The only thing bigger than her talent as a physician is her heart… This woman deserves every award she can be nominated for. I hope she’s around as long as I need her.”
Mindy, Chicago, Illinois
Honoring Erin Tracy, MD
“I am where I am today as a physician because of the guidance and support of a physician mentor when I was a medical student. I want to thank Dr. Erin Tracy who recognized my potential, encouraged my involvement in health policy and organized medicine, and truly inspired my interest in women’s health.”
Heather Smith, MD, MPH, Providence, Rhode Island
