Commonly Asked Questions
What is the time commitment to be a mentor?
We ask that mentors contact their mentees monthly, at a minimum – whether that be by email, Skype, or phone. Quarterly, we will ask for mentees to provide feedback on these interactions. There will also be mentor-mentee events at the AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago, and we ask everyone to attend that are able.
Will I be able to select my mentee?
Currently, AMA Foundation staff will facilitate mentor-mentee connections. As this program grows, this may change!
Are there any restrictions on being a mentor?
Mentors must be members of the AMA’s House of Delegates, as many events will culminate at HOD meetings. Otherwise, geographic locations and specialties do not restrict participation.
