Meet the 2021 Illinois
Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship recipient:
Ashley Ezema attends the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. During medical school, she has been heavily involved in mentorship – particularly of underrepresented minority students – as well as substantial research, focused on improving cardiovascular health outcomes. She has also pursued her interest in global health through both clinical electives abroad as well as through her involvement with several research projects.
She will be applying into Internal Medicine this fall with hopes of pursuing a cardiology fellowship in the future. Ultimately, her goal is to combine her interests in research, global equity and justice, and medicine to serve as a global cardiovascular physician-scientist.
