Why I'm Here
"It really started with my transition... during that process, I moved from a position of being a privileged white male to a transgender woman. I started to really understand the social drivers of justice in this country and the need for social justice reform."

Know that this is universal... being a residency program director and seeing my residents come in without any education and having my faculty feel ill-prepared to partner effectively with the LGBTQ population... is definitely an ongoing challenge."
Advancing Health Equity
Through convening leaders in health care, the LGBTQ+ community, medical education, community organizations, and other stakeholders the AMA Foundation will serve as a force to move the needle in LGBTQ+ health equity.
Reshaping Medical Education
The LGBTQ+ Fellowship will create a robust pipeline of LGBTQ+ health specialists and in collaboration with granted institutions will develop a standard curriculum to be distributed to medical schools in the future.
Collaboration with Partners
The LGBTQ+ Fellowship program is a collaborative initiative between granted institutions, partner organizations, community stakeholders, and industry leaders.
Mentorships and Leadership Training
Fellows and faculty will participate in leadership training activities, development opportunities and mentorships.
