AMA Foundation Awards Multiple Scholarships to Medical Students, Celebrating Diversity and Excellence in Medical Education

Building on its commitment to advancing medical education and leadership, the American Medical Association Foundation is proud to announce the awarding of 37 scholarships to exceptional, rising medical students.

The Physicians of Tomorrow program, a longstanding initiative that celebrates diversity in education, is designed to support medical students in their final year of medical school. By offering an array of scholarship categories, the program ensures a broad spectrum of needs and aspirations are met, helping to create an inclusive health care system that reflects the evolving needs of U.S. patient populations.

Additionally, funds created by state medical societies and associations amplify the AMA Foundation’s impact, allowing for a broader reach and more substantial student support.

Albert Ray, MD, FAAFP, president of the AMA Foundation Board of Directors, expressed pride and enthusiasm in announcing the scholarship recipients.

“We are thrilled to support these outstanding students as they embark on their medical careers,” stated Dr. Ray. “Their dedication and passion for medicine is truly inspiring, and we are confident they will make significant contributions to the field of medicine and the nation’s health.”

Students were selected through an application process that considered academic achievements, financial need, community involvement, and a demonstrated commitment to equity in medicine.

Applications for the next cycle of Physicians of Tomorrow scholarships open on October 21, 2024, and will be awarded in spring 2025. Visit the AMA Foundation website for more information.
