AMA Foundation Announces 2023–24 Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship Recipients

The foundation awarded $315,000 in tuition aid for the upcoming academic year through its scholarship program

The AMA Foundation (AMAF), the philanthropic arm of the American Medical Association, announced today the 2023–24 recipients of its Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship Program. The program annually distributes $5,000 and $10,000 in tuition assistance scholarships approaching their final year of medical school.

The foundation has had a long-standing tradition of supporting medical students. Since 1950, it has awarded more than $61 million in scholarship aid. With multiple categories and a variety of focus areas, including serving those underrepresented in medicine, the foundation works to recognize a diverse cohort of medical students each year.

“The cost of medical school, and education in general, continues to outpace all other industries and is far beyond the rate of inflation,” said scholarship recipient Christian Shannon. “Scholarship aid is critical for medical students because our commitment to health care and preparing to be best physicians possible for our future patients requires full dedication of our time and energy.”

In addition to Shannon, the 2023–24 Physicians of Tomorrow scholarship recipients include:
