Shireen Saxena, MD

Dr. Shireen Saxena is a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics resident at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles General Medical Center. She completed her medical degree with Multi-Distinction in Research, Global Health, and Community Health from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry.

A dedicated advocate for systemic change, Dr. Saxena has been an active member of the American Medical Association since 2017, serving in multiple leadership capacities across the medical student and resident-fellow sections. Her passion for philanthropy and health equity is reflected in her clinical work in Los Angeles, where she helps co-manage LA General's resident-run, $1.21 million patient care fund. In this role, she represents the Med-Peds department to collaboratively design, advocate for, and vote on programmatic initiatives that deliver vital resources to historically underserved communities.

Dr. Saxena’s clinical and systemic interests lie at the intersection of allergy and immunology, global public health, and climate change—specifically focusing on health equity and clinical transition care for underserved populations with complex atopic disease. On the AMA Foundation Board, she brings a vital, ground-level clinical perspective to help strengthen and expand the Foundation’s impact for physicians and patients alike.
