The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is an immersive experience designed to equip medical students with the tools, confidence, and community to lead with impact. Participants are paired with seasoned physician leaders from the AMA House of Delegates and engage in a year-long experience that includes a launch retreat in September, monthly webinars, formal mentorship, and recognition at the AMA Annual Meeting in June. Scholarship FAQs

  • Applications must be submitted through our official portal listed in the Application materials. If you are not eligible or were not nominated by your medical school, the system will prevent you from proceeding. Medical school staff or faculty seeking information should contact us directly.

  • Currently, our scholarships are designated for medical students entering their final year. We do not offer scholarships for students earlier in their medical education.

  • Deadlines typically fall in the first quarter of each year, though exact dates may vary. Please refer to the “Applications” tab on our website.

  • No. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted through our online portal. Submissions via other methods will not be accepted.

  • Upon submission, you will see a confirmation screen and receive a confirmation email. Ensure all sections are complete before finalizing your application.

  • Unfortunately, we do not provide individual feedback or share scores/comments from our volunteer reviewers.

  • Applications are reviewed by a panel of volunteer reviewers, including physicians, donors, and former recipients.
