The AMA Foundation
Health Equity
Acceleration Fund
With a heightened sense of urgency for an inclusive physician workforce of the future, AMA will explore the challenges that medical schools face with the reversal of Affirmative Action. Increasing Physician Workforce Diversity is a 2-year project that will survey the landscape of medical school admissions and physician communities, to better understand next steps, and potential derailing activities. The project will explore potential steps to ensure that the progress in healthcare equity is not eroded, inform stakeholders of the successes and challenges in building a diverse physician workforce for the future, and to develop innovative tools and provide guidance for organizations to move forward in a diverse and collaborative environment.
“Health equity initiatives at the AMA Foundation address the underlying causes of disparities and help our communities thrive. I have seen these barriers impact patient populations firsthand, fueling my commitment to advancing this critical work.”
Thomas J Madejski, MD
