Jon Eckdahl, JD
Jon Eckdahl is a retired attorney with a distinguished career in law and corporate governance. A graduate of Harvard University, the London School of Economics, and Harvard Law School, he began his legal career with Sidley Austin in Chicago and became a partner in 1974.
In 1975, Mr. Eckdahl joined Arthur Andersen & Co. as its first internal counsel, later becoming a principal and general counsel. He played a key role in developing the firm's global legal function and retired in 2000 after 25 years. He then served as senior vice president and general counsel of the AMA until his retirement in 2017.
Mr. Eckdahl and his wife, Marcia Opp, live in Chicago and have three adult children and seven grandchildren. He has served on several boards and is active in various Chicago civic organizations.
